Julien Fournival’s practice unfolds through writing, installation, and sculpture. At the intersection of the domestic and the symbolic, he examines our relationship to familiar spaces, memory, and personal and familial mythologies. His works place ordinary objects under tension, displacing or reconfiguring them to reveal the implicit narratives they carry. He pays particular attention to in-between states and forms of storage or preservation, where notions of shelter, memory, and cohabitation become both formal and political concerns. Working from everyday materials, he explores the affective dynamics and power structures that run through the intimate.
